Accommodation

We are offering accommodation for those interested in getting a feel for off-grid sustainable lifestyle living in this region. Ideally you stay for a minimum period of 2 weeks where we will guide you through the basics of learning how to manage and maintain yourself without any outside support. This includes all the Plumbing, Electrical, Construction, Irrigation, Farming, Solar installations and maintenance etc.

Our Accommodation

Our House includes two bedrooms with double beds one a sleeper couch. There is a Hot Gas shower, Urinal, Washing Machine and basin room off the lounge, which has a TV and DSTV Explorer but NO contract so best bring your own sim if you need it. The Kitchen has a Gas Stove, Steamer and Air Frier with enough pots and pans and plates for 4 people. See more details below.

Rooms

There are two bedrooms one with solar fan and the other has a large fan if required. Bedding is all relatively new with Egyptian cotton Duvet and pillow cases.

Infrastructure

Next to the house you have a Garage with a wooden deck and Boma with a 10 seater bench to enjoy the stunning sunsets and sunrises in the morning overlooking 3rd Lake of the Kosi Bay Reserve.

Farming

We have a limited supply of Organic herbs and seasonal produce (cuttings/seedlings) such as Strawberries, Spring onions, Garlic chives, Coriander, Dill, Ginger, Sage, Basil, Spinach, Kale, Tomatoes, Carrots, Mielies, Sunflowers, Beans, Peas, Squash, Butternut and Chickens of course.

Solar

I assemble my own Lithium Batteries and am available to assist in showing you how it is done... Produce batteries at half the price of others out there building banks 12v-24v. Batteries get cheaper the bigger you go... Lights turn on automatically when sun goes down staying on for 4 hours currently.

Outside Toilet and Shower

Great Outdoor shower that has cold water but heats up during the day as many of the black pipes are exposed to sunlight.

Front Door Coffee Bar

We have an Espresso coffee machine at the entrance to the house with plenty glasses for drinks including a fridge for Beers, wine etc. Kitchen is nearby with Fridge, Freezer, 2 washing basins amd Gas stove with hob and Toaster. More than enough utensils posts etc. for 4 people.

Chickens

Will be able to show you how to produce awesome Free Range eggs, feeding of chickens and creating a nesting are for them. This is a must for anyone going off grid as 4 Chickens Produce 2-3... sometimes 4 eggs per day.

Food on site

There is plenty food on site and all you need to purchase is meat, Cheese etc. and we can show you how to reduce your overheads producing your own pasta, baking bread etc. etc. Here some Monkey Oranges (Tree in front of house)

Gardening

This region has very sandy soils so you need to build up the soil with Manure and compost to develop and soil texture great for all the vegetables we grow here. Has taken me over 2 years to get the soils to a reasonable level without shipping good soil in and no fertilisers.

Booking procedure

This property can be rented for periods from 1 week to 4 weeks and possibly longer depending on circumstances. It is currently available for rent on Airbnb but best book directly with us here for additional requirements you might have.
